Hello,

a new root exploit on the linux kernel appeared Tuesday and concerns séries from 2.6.38 to 3.8.8 with

CONFIG_PERF_EVENTS

enabled.

you can check with this command

zgrep CONFIG_PERF_EVENTS /proc/config.gz

if it says

CONFIG_PERF_EVENTS=y

so you are vulnerable.

if the maintainer of chakra kernel could apply the patch, that would be great

When I wrote "you really need a package that is newer", I meant one besides xbmc. Then you would only downgrade xmbc with pacman -Suu xmbc instead of ALL packages with pacman -Suu.

About k3b, I'm currently not sure about why it's not working, but please let's continue with this in the other thread.

Updating a system after such a long time on a (semi-)rolling distro is quite problematic. Make sure your mirror is synced, and try answering the first question with "n".

I've finally solved my problem: my drive was once part of a fakeraid, and the system was recognizing it as part of a software raid. I used mdadm to disable the raid, and all is fine now.

Actually that is a packaging mistake, sorry.
The python2-pip package is the correct one, it should replace python-pip. And since the former needs a rebuild for the fix, I will attempt to update it and push to testing asap.

Hello SteveK, thanks for stop by and share this useful info
Honestly I didn't knew I had to activate the service myself, I wrongly assumed that being Chakra an OOTB all-round distribution this would be activated auto-magically at install time.
However after doing my homework and learning about Chakra's design goals (among them be visually stunning while at the same time give total control to the user) I know now that the base system installed is pretty lean and gives a lot of space to the user to customize it to his/her liking.

ok, well, not sure how to categorize this.

i've found a workaround by putting my Naga on a different USB hub from my other devices, but something somewhere changed how Linux sees my Naga.

in a clean install of Benz the number keys on my Naga were just read as keyboard numbers 1 through 10, - and =. now after the update it reads them as Numpad1 through Numpad10, - and +.

not sure where to go from here, but worth noting in case of future changes/errors.

Yes, we currently provide only a Python 2 version. Providing both is actually on my TODO list (for far to long time), but haven't happened yet (it needs some other packages like a Python 3 version of sip). I'll discuss this with the other packagers, maybe it can be done soon.
