Sad news - we lost one of our Developers

One mail hit me hard on the 24th of April:

Code:

Hello Phil,

my name is Daniela, the girlfriend from Jan and have to inform you that Jan
died this morning sleeping at home. Yesterday he was still fine and there
were no signs for that. Also the police will check whats happen to him. If
there should be an interest I'll inform you all from Chakra about the
inhumation in his home town Luedenscheid middle/end next week.

Regards,
Daniela

Now we have some conclusions:

It is very heavy to realize the situation for his friends and us. Until yesterday morning
he was completely fine and he told nothing strong ...

It happen 2010/04/23 morning around 5:20. Daniela, his current girlfriend woke up because Jan was convulse very strong.
At first she was thinking that he has a very bad dream and she tried to wake him up, but it didn't work.
She realized that it isn't a dream, he stop to convulse and she putted him in recovery position, called for the first aid.
When the first aid people came the told her, "Mhm he has only a convulsion" but in this moment he left us.

They tried to reanimate him for 3/4 hour in their flat and also a half hour in the hospital but he didn't come back.
There was no reaction from the body anymore.

On Monday they will bring his body to the forensic medicine in Erlangen because there is no evidence to his symptoms.
Then maybe we'll know what happen ...

She and all his friends wishes us all good luck to forward this project !!!

And here the mail from his younger brother I got at the 27th of April:

Code:

Dear Phil,

My name is Boris and I am the younger brother of Jan, who left us on Friday morning last week.

I am not that much into programming and developing as my brother Jan used to be and cannot
understand most of his doing in this regards. But what I can truly understand, how important
the Chakra Project and the entire community was for him.

Both me and our mother are very thankful for your words written on the Chakra website, and we
are overwhelmed by the reaction of the community. Both give us the impression that he was a very
important and valued companion on a joint way. Our deepest thanks to all of you for the consoling
words and condolences.

I want to let you and the entire team have my very best wishes for the future hoping that you
will be able to and also have the power to follow up this project and let his dreams and idea
of independence and live on, as he would have wished.

Thank you very much.

Boris

Re: Sad news - we lost one of our Developers

Despite having done this already, I wanted to wave my last goodbye to a brilliant developer, and most of all a friend.
Miss you Jan.

Re: Sad news - we lost one of our Developers

Such sad news, I will express this one more time here.  Incredible how many people in this world he touched with his great ideas and how he executed them.

For the best result to a problem posted, please remember (funkyou's words):
1 - Tell us your architecture (i686 or x86_64), either in the thread title or in the posting itself
2 - Provide as much info as you can gather (backtraces, console output, chakra-version etc etc)
3 - Mark your post as solved with [SOLVED] in the title if your problem has been resolved (just edit your post)

Re: Sad news - we lost one of our Developers

This is really sad! My condoleances to his friends and family and to all chakra-devs.  This must be especially hard for his girlfriend: to watch him die and be unable to stop this from happening.  What a horrible experience this must be.

Re: Sad news - we lost one of our Developers

Dammit, I really can't believe this,  I'm really going to miss seeing Jan (funkyou) tell me when the new packages are going to come out, or whats new here or there. Kdemod is a great project that Jan really put a lot into, and satisfied kde users across the globe. Hopefully the Chakra Project will be able to carry on his legacy despite this tragic loss.
