Exessive Hard Drive Activity After New Install

I'm a long time Archuser... I am using chakra due to being on a wireless only setup and have to install via wireless. Arch wiki seemed extremely daunting on the subject. So I found chakra and LOVE IT!

but the hd & hd light are going crazy.. someone in irc said it could be video drivers, so I got ridof "free" and installed Catalyst.

I checked rc.conf and see like 25 modules (arch had like 5) do i really need all of these or is it chakra specific..cause it's FAST.. as fast if not faster from my untrained eye as arch itself.  but could all of these modules be causing the excessive hd activity?

also I have swapiness to zero.. i have 6gb ram.

thanks for any ideas.. just never had this excessive activity w/ 'buntu and arch.

No, those modules are mostly no longer needed, in fact, many users have that line completely empty now.  Just back up that line and remove all.
For the HDD activity, checked top/htop or system-monitor what is causing all this writing?

Re: Exessive Hard Drive Activity After New Install

seriously? entire line empty?  and no problems? besides my post title, I have no performance issues.. but will emptying this line increase anything that I'd notice?

thanks in advance
