Hello and welcome to our forums sarah22! ![]()
Some guidelines for the forums:
- Please do not open multiple threads for the same subject
- don't use bold letters unless needed
- don't bump a thread 15minutes after you started it. Have some patience.
Your issue (and probably the solution) is described in this thread:
http://chakra-project.org/bbs/viewtopic … 746#p40746
If you still have any doubts, just ask again..
Hmm, btw. that burg warning should be fixed since we now use GRUB2.

i see he said : to heart, and tried the install again, wiping the drive totally and repartitioning it. It boots just fine now.
Thanks!:
but when i tried to re-install it again partition like /boot is locked i cannot delete it
please help me because i deleted my windows and installed chakra to start with linux
Offline
You used partition manager from Tribe to delete it?
Why are you using a separate /boot partition btw?
There is also this similar thread: http://chakra-project.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?id=8113

i really lost hope i tried it more than once but always get the same problem
" Bootloader-Setup finished with Exitcode: 1
Some might went wrong. Before reboot it is recommended to check /mnt/install.root/boot/burg/burg.conf"
Offline
Wait, "burg"? I hope it's just a message left over from older ISOs...
How is the boot partition "locked"? Can't you just format it? Maybe try doing that separately, maybe with a live session of GParted or PartedMagic.
Offline
not it is not locked now that was because i did not restart.
now i'm trying to re-install it again and do not check (install bootloader) and see if it works or not
because i installed Arch linux on this computer and everything went good the instalation of GRUB2 totally everything Except
when i tried to update the system
it gives me the message of the hell glibc :exist in file system
t almost tried everything but alawys the system breaks so i come to chakra
2012 7 was perfect in dualboot with windows7
but 2012 8 alone on my laptop makes my life hell till now
still need help

hell hell
it does not work what will i do now
go back to windows or ubuntu

Again, do not bump a thread if you get no response in 15minutes, people have a life, they help on the forums when they can, not bc someone is paid to help you.
Posting the /var/log/installation.log will give an idea of what you are trying to do, since so far it is like looking into a crystal ball to find whatever your issues might be.
After you've used livemode for a bit, and accessed some of your partitions, it is normal they are marked as locked in the installer (Tribe), just select the partition with the 'lock' mark, and select 'unlock'.
In between each of your install attempts, did you format the target partitions (except /home)? When grub failed, did you check free space on /boot?
Offline
yes, you are right in that (people have a life).
now i have installed Arch linux 2011 .7 and everything goes well connection established and i'm updating the system .i hope to not see the problem of (glibc :existe in the file system after downloading updates and installing them.
if it does and appear windows is calling me .and i will install chakra in duallboot with windows as first better.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the problem is that everything goes well throughout instalation of chakra ,but in the point of installing GRUB that hell message appears
-i tried making boot partition separate primary
and the other in an extended partition
-i tried making all the partition primary
-i unchecked install Gurb
-i reformated partitions
-------------------------------------
i did all these staffs without any result
now i back to arch and see
thank you for your help admin
you know i really love chakra

Again, no useful info, if you ever need help, whether it is on Chakra or any other, post logs, hardware info, outputs of lspci, uname, etc.
Offline
Let me also ask again, why are you using a boot partition? Tried without?
And of course, you need to reinstall grub on each test if you plan to use Chakras grub.

Please use the Arch forums for an Arch install with questions like this. And make sure you read the news there. These issues are covered there all over, non-stop.....

okay
i will try to see
and i will try your suggestion too to not use a boot partition in chakra instalation and see it it waorks

Op's finally i solved the problem of chakra boot loader.
chakra 2012.8 Claire x64 did not except to install it
but when i change it to chakra 2012.7 i686
everything went excellent
and i can connect to internet every thing is good
please realize an 2012.8 i686 do not focus on x64 bit only
i love chakra
Offline
So the issue was you used an x86_64 ISO for a system that supports i686 only?
Read the news why i686 support is dropped, makes no sense to install i686 Chakra at this stage.

I'm actually having the same issue and I was able to get the error message, although, I think someone might need to translate it for me. Its a tad too technical.
Command: /usr/sbin/grub-install --root-directory /media/87fe0ed3-109d-418d-a446-2038ca925856 /dev/sda
Error code: 1
Error message:
/usr/sbin/grub-bios-setup: warning: this LDM has no Embedding Partition; embedding won't be possible. /usr/sbin/grub-bios-setup: warning: Embedding is not possible. GRUB can only be installed in this setup by using blocklists. However, blocklists are UNRELIABLE and their use is discouraged.. /usr/sbin/grub-bios-setup: error: will not proceed with blocklists.
unfortunaly I don't have the choice to wipe my whole computer so thats not an option.

What I did was, I reformatted each partition as ext4 every time I attempted the re-install. I tried this with having /boot and / on one partition and then attempted to make two partitions with /boot separate. I formatted all of them every time.
right now I'm attempting to move the first partition over I MB in case the MBR doesn't have enough room to install grub. Read on the wiki about grub requiring more memory than the MBR has. worth a try.
Thanks

Well, didn't really work that well. still shows up with the error.
By the way, My machine is similar to Sarah22's. i5 intel HD, 4 gigs of ram. ASUS laptop. It does support EFI but I have that disabled.
I have three NTFS partitions(windows boot, Disk C, and a Data partition for personal files) on my machine and Linux is on my extended one(Swap and root).
any ideas?

That error message could indicate there's not enough space for saving the GRUB binary image between the MBR and the first sector of the first partition on the disk.
See this remark on a similar LinuxQuestions.org thread:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … ost4709257
the user is reporting the same error on a Fedora system, and he supposedly fixed that by repartitioning his hard disk so that there's some free space between the beginning of the disk and the beginning of the first partition.
