Friday, September 23. 2011Chakra Edn (ms3) & Takeoff (0.1) reviewed in LXF 150![]() Once again we managed to get our little Distro some attention by having some reviews printed by a Linux-Magazine and burned on the Cover-DVD. Chakra is not only a Distribution but also a platform to create new innovating applications like Takeoff. A review of this cool new KDE launcher can be read on page 76 reviewed as a LXF-Hotpick. To quote the article: "It's hardly a great innovation in user interface design but, by the same token, anything which releases people from the terrible tyranny of the default launcer is very welcome" ... "It just sort of works, and it does do a better job than the time-wasting Kickoff launcher ..." Further more Chakra 2011.09ms3 got pressed on the Cover-DVD, so interested readers can try out KDE 4.7 instead of compiling it from tarballs. They searched the net and found our distribution to fit that purpose best. To quote the article: "Now, chakra, according to Indian yoga culture, is all about channeling energy in the human body, but don't worry, you don't have to confront yourself into crazy positions to use it" ... "The Chakra team's philosophy is KISS: Keep it Simple, Stupid. It doesn't try to be everything to everybody, but instead provides a great KDE and QT experience out of the box." .. "Boom, shakalaka Chakra - a fast, streamlined distribution with the very latest KDE. What's not to like?" This shows once more what big impact our distribution has on the media already.
