This page should serve as a quick how-to for Windows users on installing Chakra from a USB image. Previously, the utility UNETBOOTIN made creating bootable USB drives simple. That no longer works since Alpha2.
Windows has no native method to perform a byte-copy of images to a USB stick.
Requirements
- Chakra USB image (this how-to was tested with alpha2)
- An existing Windows installation (tested using Windows 7)
- Image Writer for Windows https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer
Steps
- Download the desired USB image of Chakra Live CD
- Run W32DiskImager.exe
- Plug in USB stick
- Select the IMG file and the target USB drive
- Click Write to byte-copy the image
- Reboot with USB stick still plugged in and you should be running Chakra Live CD. If you run into issues please post to the forum or update this page!
